So…how many of you have “organizing your home” on your 2012 “to do” list? I love Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas, but I have been looking forward to cleaning my house out once the festive chaos was over. (Let’s face it… “decking the halls” often equals clutter.)
This year, on December 31st, the “fever” struck me-I want to throw everything out. 🙂 Relax, hubs (if you’re reading this)…your worn out t-shirts are safe. It’s just that I have realized that I spend so much time straightening my home, only to find it unorganized again. We simply have accumulated far too many (unimportant) “things” over the years. This year, I aim to simplify my home by clearing out the unnecessary. Do you need some motivation? Check out these pictures…sure to inspire you!
I love this kitchen. Even though so many things are on display, the neutral combination of gray walls and white dishes on the open air shelving simply looks clean. (When displaying dishes on shelves, choosing pieces in the same color keeps the display looking organized.)
This is definitely on my “to do” list…organize spices!
I love this craft closet. By installing shelving in an extra closet, this space is neat and tidy.
And of course, your closet. How amazing would it be to walk into this every day? A friend once told me that I should be able to walk into my closet with my eyes closed, grab absolutely anything, and know it was something I would feel fabulous in. For me, currently, this is not the case. I have a lot of sorting to do. (And yes, little sisters…this means you will have first dibs on clothing I part with.)
“Everything we possess that is not necessary for life or happiness becomes a burden, and scarcely a day passes that we do not add to it.” ~Robert Brault
Isn’t that the truth? Furthermore, the extra “burden” to you can be donated to charity and make someone else very happy. It’s win/win….I’m ready to get started.
