Well, it happened. My baby girl turned one. Doesn’t that make her technically a toddler now? That word alone makes me want to cry. I cannot believe how fast this year went. I was digging through old photos of her the other day and stumbled on this photo I took of her and B on the day we brought her home. It made my heart ache to see how tiny she was. I know there is so much fun to be had with our children at every stage…but for some reason, I can’t help but lose my breath when something reminds me of how quickly they are growing.
Sweet little Gigi had a great first birthday. I love to go all out for first birthday parties for some reason. I suppose because it feels like a giant celebration for the whole family…kind of like a “we survived the first year” party.
For her birthday party, we went with a classic…Breakfast at Tiffany’s. To say I had fun prepping for this party is an UNDERSTATEMENT. The bows, the pearls, the glasses…I had way too much fun. Even though I knew that a one year old didn’t really understand what was going on, I wanted so badly for her to grasp the fun of her party on some level. Two nights before the party, Megan and I were doing some SN work and on a whim decided to dress her up in her party dress and fun props (glasses, pearls, and fur stole) to see the full look. She giggled and ate the entire thing up. That is a moment that will stay with me forever and make it worth every little bit of work I put into the party.
And party we did, friends! Here are some photos from Gigi’s special day.
